A BRIEF HISTORY LOG SINCE 1998

Continuing Vocational training activities:

  • In-house courses on Health & Safety, Environment, Technical English, IT and specific courses on National and Community legislation;
  • Vocational training activities for port workers (enterprises, terminals, service companies, freight forwarders and shipping agencies) and port and logistics courses for young people: activities carried out also as part of Inter-Regional Projects or with County (Regione Toscana) or District Council (Provincia di Livorno) funding.
  • In the framework of the ADAPT Community Programme, 11 courses for 100 workers were carried out: “Safety and Port Operation Coordinators” and “Crane and Yard-Handling Operators”
  • In the framework of the LEONARDO DA VINCI Community Programme, the following projects were carried out, in cooperation with various EU partners:
    - “FOR.MAR”, Vocational training activities in the logistics sector, for 16 young graduates: this course included a 3-month work-placement in European ports;
    - “PORTSPEAK”, finalized at creating multimedia products for port sector technical English training;
  • In the framework of the EQUAL Community Initiative the following projects were carried out, in cooperation both with National and Transnational partners:
    - S.UP.PORT. - Skills Upgrading in the Ports, a national DP for setting up a common port training system, through standard procedures for experimenting skills and expertise accreditation and certification models;
    - EUNETYARD - Supporting Employment & Adaptability in Shipbuilding Sector, a transnational partnership with Greek and Finnish VTC in the shipbuilding sector, to provide useful
    contributions to solving the problems arising from the European shipbuilding industry crisis;
  • Transnational Cooperation activities, in particular with workers from the Tunisian Merchant Navy and Ports Office.
