MANAGING VOCATIONAL
TRAINING ACTIVITIES IN THE PORT SECTOR
As stated by the Livorno Port Committee since
1998, Livorno Port Authority has to play a role also in the Vocational
Training and Human Resources development sectors, in order to provide
solutions for:
- Optimizing District-level and County-level financing and resources
devised to implement the labour policies for port workers;
- Developing a common system among the port companies for recognizing
professions, devoted to guaranteeing, as requested by the Ministry
of Welfare, the best integration between local labour policies
and EU indications and requirements;
- Implementing EU policies on employment and Human Resources development,
by planning and carrying out EU funded projects or through joining
partnerships related to issues like goods handling, logistics,
shipbuilding and ship-repair sectors;
- Cooperating with Universities and Research Centres in order
to facilitate the transfer of knowhow and technological innovations
to the port sector;
- Combating potential risk of exclusion for port workers from
being excluded from the job market by certifying and accrediting
their professional skills and expertise and facilitating mobility;
- Improving the “port system” and its overall competitiveness
by trying to guarantee a high human-factor quality level.
